Design, specify, estimate: USG Boral design tools make it easier



We offer a wide range of design tools for the design and construction industries. Greg Suther, our Senior Engineering Support Officer describes some recent updates to these essential tools – and the convenience of now finding them all on a single portal.


We have long offered design tools to make it faster and easier to obtain accurate, up-to-date information about our massive range of wall and ceiling systems. Over the years these tools have been refined – with the objective of saving our customers time and effort in their day-to-day work, as well as reducing risk.


Perhaps our most widely used design tool, Systems+ is the ultimate guide for cross referencing and selecting from our range of wall and ceiling systems. It’s especially invaluable for architects, designers, builders, certifiers and plastering contractors who deal with fire-rated and acoustic construction.

Continuously updated, the most recent upgrades to Systems+ include:

·       Updated acoustic ratings for FIBEROCK™ Steel Stud Walls and FIBEROCK Timber Stud Walls

·       Updated ceilings acoustic ratings including impact ratings in line with the current National Construction Code (NCC)

·       New Ceiling Tiles data plus the addition of Echostop® and Ensemble™ information in the Ceilings section

Hard copies of Systems+ can be ordered through USG Boral regional sales offices and electronic files can be downloaded from the USG Boral website.


We launched BIMWIZARD®, a Revit®-compatible plug in for architects and designers in 2016. Since then we have refined its functionality to help designers save even more time and effort when specifying wall and ceiling systems. As our Engineering Support Officer Greg Suther explains in his recent blog, BIMWIZARD was originally compatible with AutoDesk® Revit®, but in late 2018 it also became compatible with Graphisoft® ArchiCAD® – the other major Business Information Management (BIM) platform used in Australia.

Another online tool for architects and designers is eSelector, an interactive tool for selecting fire-rated and acoustic plasterboard wall and ceiling systems. We recently upgraded its user interface to match that of BIMWIZARD – the advantage being that designers using both tools will find it easier to switch between the two.

Within eSelector, the Archispec tool lets you produce detailed architectural specifications. It has been expanded to now include all systems within eSelector.

The latest version of eSelector also includes updated acoustic numbers for our ceiling products to reflect current NCC standards, and data for FIBEROCK systems has been updated.


An online tool used by many residential builders and plasterers is our Partiwall Estimator. It’s friendly and intuitive, making it simple to calculate material quantities for Partiwall system used in attached dwelling construction. The benefit is an accurate list of the materials you’ll need, enabling you to obtain a quick quotation for their supply.

Partiwall Estimator has now been upgraded to include changes in wall direction – such as dog-leg bends. This allows for more precise calculations of your materials needs, without having to make allowances for deviations from straight walls.


We’re making it even easier to access our range of online design tools and resources by putting them all in the same place! All you now need do is sign on once to have access to our complete range of specification and design tools and documentation delivery systems. Any online tools and resources we develop in the future will also be accessible via this single sign-on (SSO).

If you have already registered to use any of the design tools mentioned above, when you next log into them you will be prompted to change your password. Note that if you have already established a username and password via SSO, you can now use that same logon to access our online design tools.
